The document was written by the Precinct Clerk, John Cutter Jr., by order of the Committee. It is a notice requiring one of the constables of the northwest precinct of Cambridge, Francis Lock, to notify freeholders and inhabitants of the area as well as those of Charlestown, who are qualified to vote, to attend a town meeting. The meeting would take place at the meetinghouse on May 10th at 3pm. The tasks required for the meeting (numbered 1-3) were to know how the inhabitants will raise money to supply a pulpit; to know whether they will decide on a minister; and to know whether they will hear a petition from Deacon Joseph Adams. A response was required on or before the date for the meeting. The reverse contains a short response from Francis Lock that he has notified the proper parties. |
