The document is a notice from John Cutter requiring the constable of Cambridge, Thomas Hall, to notify freeholders and inhabitants in the northwest precinct or parish, who are qualified to vote, to attend a town meeting on July 23, 1739. The tasks required for the meeting are numbered 1-3. First, the constituents are being asked to grant a sum of money for the ordination of Reverend Samuel Cooke; they also need to appoint a time to meet for the ordination; and they need to appoint a committee to manage the affair. A response was required on or before the date for the meeting. The reverse contains a short response from Thomas Hall, dated July 20, 1739, that he has notified his precinct. |
