Some of the captions are based on outdated research and are no longer accurate. B: The Lower Gun Over the Fireplace Is a Flintlock and Was Carried by Capt. Benjamin Locke, Who Commanded a Company of Minute Men at the Battle of Lexington. The Powder Horn on the Right Was Carried by William E. Chace in 1765. The Upper Gun Was Carried by Thomas H. Teele in 1765. C: (Above) Guest Chamber with Four Poster Bed. The Gown on the Left Is One That Was Made by Mrs. Cyrus Cutter, Who Wore It to a Peace Ball in 1812. D: The Lowboy Shown Here Was Formerly Owned by the Prentice Family. The Knife Box, on the Lowboy, Was Presented to Lydia Russell in 1814 by Thomas H. Teele. On the Wall Are Miniatures of the Russell Family. E: (Above) Room Where Jason Russell and Eleven of His Followers Were Taken by British Troops. The Spinning Wheel Was Used by Mrs. Ruth Yates, Grandmother of George Y. Wellington. F: The Jason Russell House on Jason Street, Arlington, Built in 1680, the Oldest House in Arlington. Now the Home and Museum of the Arlington Historical Society. G: The Stairs to the Attic, up which Jason Russell and Eleven Other Men Fled, Pursued by British Troops. They Were Captured and Disarmed; Some of Them Were Killed and Others Wounded by the British. H: Assembly Room of the Jason Russell House. The Piano Was Made by Chickering in 1832 and Sold to W. J. Fullerton for $300. Loaned by Mrs. Edward E. Bacon of Arlington to the Historical Society. I: Corner of Another Guest Chamber in the Jason Russell House. J: (At Left) The Relic Room in the Jason Russell House, Arlington, Mass. Note the Old Carpet Bags Hanging on the Cabinet Doors. Another copy can be found at 1928.15.14, as a single page. |
