Scope & Content |
Letter from William Wood to Stephen Blake. The letter starts with a long description of an abcess or 'broken breast' that Sophia Blake [William's wife and Stephen's sister] is suffering from which appeared when she was giving birth, and the treatments she went through, with some progress finally being made, but Sophia remaining quite weak. William then describes "the boy (for such it is), has the appearance of healthiness and foo beauty of features... gives credit to his parents, whoever or whatever they may be." The letter then discusses a note from "E.J.," and how Sophia was unable to "comply with your request" regarding it. William continues by saying how much he wishes to see Stephen again, and describes some of the changes that West Cambridge is going through, including a new town hall and a new Baptist church. The last page of the letter then discusses the death of an unnamed person close to Stephen, and tries to comfort him. Full typed transcription avail. in media files. |
