bio-sketch of Miss Anna Bradshaw in a gilded frame 5.75" x 9" Miss Anna Bradshaw was the granddaughter of Rev. Samuel Cooke, the first minister of the First Parish, and loyal to the teachings for which he stood. The one desire of her heart was to have these teachings perpetuated, and a meeting was held at her home on June 8, 1842, for the purpose of religiolus worship. Miss Bradshaw lived in the cooke homestead on Pleasant street. She gave the land on which this church was built, and later her homestead on Pleasant Street. To this good woman more than anyone else this church owes its existence. She passed away November 30, 1869, age 84 years. Copied from Historical Sketch by Rev. S.C.Bushnell. |
