Hadwritten note, ink on paper "Black Horse Tavern or Wetherby's, also Newell's "Committee of Saftty at Newell's (more generally known as Wetherby's Tavern) Jacob Newell had a family here 1766-69 possibly a former occupant of the tavern. Record Committe speaks of Mr. Wetherby's Black Horse tavern, Menotomy. Ethan Wetherby married Lucretia Adams Dec 31, 1775 - Proprietor of the celebrated Wetherby's Tavern April 19, '75 Thomas Adams innkeeper in Menotomy Which side of Mass. Ave? Where stone stands?" Added in pencil: "Thomas Adams, (b. 1713?) father of Lucretia, wife of Ethan Wetherby" |
