Scrapbook containing newspaper articles and other documents, especially relating to members of the Schwamb family and the Bailey family. Dates of documents range from 1893 through 1908.

Book I of ? (only one in collection) -- Possibly continued family record in second scrapbook but unknown at time of cataloguing.
Contains many newspaper articles about social life in Arlington in the late 1800's, including descripitions of weddings, dances, church socials, and school reunions. Many of the social events include guest lists. Also includes meeting notes for several Arlington clubs, especially the Women's Club, but also including the Unitarian Alliance, the Arlington Historical Society, and the Tree Protective Association. One article about the Historical Society includes mention of the donation of a cartridge box and a china pitcher.
There are also many brief articles related specifically to the Bailey and Schwamb families, including mention of vacations they took, moves, births and deaths in the familly, weddings and wedding anniverseries, changes in jobs, and social events. Also includes two marriages certificate, for Amy Etta Baily and Peter Schwamb, as well as for Peter Schwamb and Clara Boucher. There are also fabric scraps from dresses worn by Amy and her relatives at weddings.
Also includes several articles related to MIT, including experiments the institute participated in and other memoranda. There are also several articles related to Peter Schwamb's career as a professor at MIT, as well as his role in Arlington. Also included are several articles about James A. Bailey and his roles in local government.
There are also several articles related to town events, including obituaries of important town residents, the dedication of a monument to Solomon Pierce, construction and dedication of new schools, and the development of a town water supply. There are several articles about town elections and meetings, and some articles about the First Parish Church and its pastor.
Majority of scrapbook consists of newspaper clippings, although there are also a few concert and reunion program, some impersonal letters, and invitations to social gatherings.
Binding and pages are in good condition, although most pages are somewhat wrinkled. Many of the newspaper articles have years, but rarely have precise dates or the name of newspaper taken from.
