Scope & Content |
Letter from Sophia Blake to her brother, Stephen Blake. The letter starts by saying that he has likely received a letter from William Wood [2012.6.872] detailing her health, and that she is still not very well. She remains in great pain and has been diagnosed with scrofula on her breast, and believes that it will "be the cause of my death". She then talks about her child, who is doing well. The letter then continues by describing Eliza Jane, who remains "true to you". The letter breaks off and starts up again on another day, and discusses their sister Martha, who she thinks should get married for her health. She then comments that she had a good interview with Eliza Jane, and except for her health she is happy. At the end of the letter is a note from William, who tries to think of something interesting to say to someone so far. He then talks more about people in town.
