Scope & Content |
Letter from Emma F. Russell to Carrie. A page of the letter discusses the construction of the "old house", trying to figure when it was built and by whom, and whether it was already built when "William or his widow bought it from Richard Jackson". The letter then discusses the genealogy of the Russell family, mentioning a possible descent from "de Rozels of Normandy", first heard around 1021, and mentioned in the "Russell Memoirs", by (Jeremiah Holmes) Wiffen. The letter also thinks that the Russell's "kept acquiring land and seem to influence the town or precinct." The end of the letter then discusses personal matters. [Nov. 16, 1909] |
