Potter's Grove |
Details |
Joseph Potter bought three acres of land in Arlington, of what was known as Parson Fiske's place, in 1864 or 1865 in order to create Potter's Grove. The plot was between Academy Street and Pleasant Street, just south of Maple Street. The land had a hill in the center with steep slopes on all sides. Potter landscaped the Grove and allowed the public access, including to photographers. He sold nearly half his land in 1873 after suffering financial loses and sold the rest of the land in 1875 before moving to Germany. |
