Title |
The Civic Pageant of Arlington Massachusetts |
Summary |
Book detailing the pageant of 1913, held in early June, written and planned by Mrs. Cyrus Edwin [Vittoria] Dallin, to celebrate the opening of the new town hall. Contains an introduction describing the event, followed by a treasurer's report, and a full program. The pageant included between five and six hundred performers, and started with a procession of all of them. There were two parts to the pageant, the first part being based on the story of Ceres and Proserpine (from ancient Greece), and the second part being a series of historical episodes related to the history of Arlington. Has a handwritten note from Vittoria Dallin, thanking the recipient for their help in the pageant. See also 1995.5.1 for another copy of the book. Several photos of the event are at 1914.9 |
