Summary |
Typed book, with plain, brown paper covers, with hole punched papers held together by metal rings. This textbook was prepared by fourth grade teachers at Arlington schools, and is designed to introduce fourth graders to Arlington history. Includes chapters on the original settlement, industry and farming in Arlington, Arlington's role in the revolutionary war, local geography, local government, Arlington in 1958, and the role that town employees play. The second half of the book contains more material to be used with the earlier chapters, including an interview with Clinton Schwamb about Mill Brook when he was younger, an rememberance with Esther Bailey about school in the later 1800s, a story about the Indian statue crafted by Cyrus Dallin, and several articles about Arlington's infrastructure. Each chapter contains a few questions about the material, as well as suggestions of things to do to learn more. There are various maps and diagrams. Typed paper Size 8-1/2" x 11-1/4", 101 pages |
