Description |
Victorian carte-de-visite album, brown padded leather with gold foil, "Album" foil imprint on binding as well as an abstract floral design around the edge of each cover. Metal hinge and latch pieces remaining from enclosure device, endpapers a thick green and gold design, which continues into a page featuring a midieval-dressed man (squire?) wearing a feathered hat, tunic, fleur-de-lis, holding a scroll reading "Album"; other floral details. Album pages are a paper insert on either side, insertion at the base, with designs around perimter of the page and around matt. Contents - first page, empty 2-3 - Cynthia Moore & Samuel B. Moore - older cdv - Russell & Simmons, Manchester N.H. - other copies of these images are found in the other album in this collection - Samuel B. Moore is listed as an Arlington resident in 1870 4-5 - Mrs. N.S. Dickey and N.S. (Neil S.) Dickey - Charlestown photograph, N.S. Dickey was a boston resident, b. in N.H. She was born in Vt. 6-7 - Mrs. Francis Dickey and Richard C. Dickey - Boston photos - He is brother to Neil S. (previous page) Residence in Boston, Malden, b. N.H. 8-9 - Nellie Owen on left, Hillsboro, N.H. photo - unidentified woman on right, Stillwater M.N. photo (odd vignette and old-fashioned dress - could be a copy photo) - family resemblance 10-11 - Two tintypes, unidentified, woman in a dark dress with jabot, pinked cheeks, baby in a tufted chair with a white dress on left. 12-13 - Two unidentified - resemble Francis and Richard Dickey (above) - Greenfield, MA photos. 14-15 - older woman on left, with snood, vignette - Claremont NH studio + older man, dutch-style beard - River Falls, Wisc. identified as "Uncle Adam" 16-17 Unidentified man, Lowell, MA + R.B. Moore N.Y. studio (but "branches at Harvard & Yale" 1877-1881) - also listed in other album - resident of Arlington in 1870 18-19 - Baby on left, Boston studio - R.C. Dickey on right 20-21 - girl in plaid jacket, unidentified + tintype in paper sleeve, unidentified boy, Hardtford, CT. 22-23 - Couple, Springfield, MA 24-25 - Mn with small vignette, unidentified + girl, overly retouched, redrawn - could be copy photo, Hillsboro, N.H. photo 26-27 - Three children, boy (standing) and two girls in checked dresses, unidentified but 3c stamp on back ___ FALLS, 1865 + older man in suit and large top hat near baluster, sitting - unidentified - Woburn, MA 28-29 - Mrs. Blood, River Falls, Wisc. + DeEtta Blood, Manchester, N.H. (family resemblance) 30-31 - Man with van-dyke "Dick" on back, Hastings, MN - Possibly Williams + woman "Lennie" or "LoEnnie", Minn., possibly Verlender (likely David Dickey Proctor and Verlender Catherine Bevington Proctor) 32-33 - girl, Effie Proctor identified on back, Minn. studio + boy, back identified as William Proctor, Age 16, Minn. studio 34-35 - boy, William Proctor (same as above) at age 13 + boy, standing, David C.
