Saw, Ice |
Description |
Ice scorer with red wooden case. The saw has a long and thin blade with many small teeth. The blade gets gradually taller towards the end with the handle. The teeth are much shorter than the blade as a whole. There is a small flat area at the corner near the handle. A piece of metal is riveted to the blade on one end and bolted to the handle on the other end. The handle is a piece of wood shaped roughly like a rolling pin. The case is made of two long pieces of wood nailed together and seperated slightly. Nailed in the center of the long pieces are two pieces of leather, one of which has a buckle. The other piece appears to be torn. The case is painted red and has the same information written on both sides in black paint. On the left side is written "Gifford - Wood Co. --- Ice Tools & Elevators --- ___?." The last line of the left side was written too close to the edge so that only the top part of the letters appear. On the right side is wriiten " 5 Ft." Gifford-Wood Co. was formed from the merger of two companies in 1905. |
