Description |
second buckle from a Royal Artillery cartridge pouch that had been taken on April 19, 1775 during the British retreat through West Cambridge, MA. In 1856, George Gray, a member of the First Congregational Church cut the buckles from the pouch strap and put them in a box to be buried. Second buckle is more corroded than first and one of the holes ripped. Additionally the buckle is very loose and slides easily around the leather. Written on brass is 1 T B N Q 10 4 |
