Description |
Rough unfinished sampler composed of cross stitches on linen ground with silk thread. Dark brown and dark tan - mostly dark brown. Series of alphabets in upper and lower cases, ending in last capital set with letter "S" about halfway down the piece. Single line of cross stitch border also unfinished, however sampler has been blind hemmed by hand. Rough and uneven linen with inconsistencies Alphabet that had been pinned on heavy cardboard. (Cardboard removed). Sewn to archival backing in 2020. Some color bleed throughout, holes, and possible repairs. |
