Neal of Charlestown (after one died) Fiske and fIsk Family by Frederick Clifton Pierce c. 1896 p. 498 Horatio Hancock Fiske, birth June 22 1790 in Mentomy, Middlesex County, MA; married March 29 1818 Letitia Whittemore, daughter of Amos, of West Cambridge, inventor of the celebrated machine for making cards. Haratio H. and Letitia, his wife, owned the covenant in Arlington, Nov. 20 1823, the same date Elmira, his daughters, was baptized. Horatio Hancock, son of Rev. Thaddeus, was bap. June 27, 1790. . . "served an apprenticeship in the mercantile house of Munson & Bernard, Boston, from 1805 to 1813. He then commenced mercantile business in the co-partnership and under the firm name of Stanton, Fiske & Nichols, Boston, who were very enterprising, reputable, and successful merchants." he died aged 30, leaving a wife and two daughters, Elmira and Caroline. An obituary notice in the Sentinel , Sep 16, 1829, speaks of him as the only son of the Rev. Dr. Fiske, of West Cambridge, and as one of 'our most active, correct and enterprising merchanges. Whatever was required of him was sure to be done punctually, faithfully, and to be to the best of his power, few perhaps live so short a period in whose character is combined more good qualities than his, or fill up the measure of their days better than he. Both his daughters married George B. Neal of Charlestown. He died on Sept 13, 1829 in Boston. |

Flute with one brass key, open on one end. There are four pieces made of boxwood and four ivory rings on the ends of the joints. Missing headcap. The embouchure piece is closed off on one end by a piece of wood in the joint. Only two of the pieces are able to hold together. The pieces don't have visible maker's marks. Owned by Horatio H Fiske.

Flute with place for one brass key, open on one end. There are four pieces made of boxwood and two ivory rings on the ends of some of the joints. Missing headcap, key, and some of the ivory. The embouchure piece is closed off on one end by a piece of wood in the joint. The middle two pieces are stuck together, but all pieces hold together fairly well. All four of the pieces are stamped "METZLER / LONDON / 343 OXFORD ST".
