    Large reed basket and cover brought from Edinburgh, Scotland in 1802 or 1804, by Mrs. Paul. The basket formally belonged to her grandmother, and was said to be 125 years old at time of donation. The basket is made of tightly woven reeds and slants backwards. Some twine is wound around the top edge of the basket.     19th century military leather belt with oval metal buckle embossed in large letters "US". Used in Civil War. Buckle has three hooks to attach to belt.     Men's cane : formerly 907.31.3A Owned by Nathan Pratt. Gift of Mrs. James A. Bailey Jr. Ivory head, early long 4 inch ferrule. "Nathan" inscribed on metal band just below cane head.     Syringe gun, metal appears to be brass, 27" long. with a wood handle to push down plunger, long point at end. Used in water fight that took place on July 4 at Spy Pond, where various men in town tried to squirt each other with these syringes. Event is described at 1907.89.1C and 1907.89.1D, and copies of a poem about it can be found at 1907.89.1A-B, 1938.15.29, and 2017.1.17 Oversized tool.

    The Hepplewhite piano (1907.95.1A) is mahogany with inlay and 4 1/2 octaves. It is probably English of the 18th C. The rectangular case can be removed. This design was advantageous in that if desired the instrument could be moved to any location where music accompaniment was desired, be it church or dance. It is not known where or when it was made.
