Flint lock musket - With bayonet c. 1763-1773, French Barrel rings missing. American -made muskets were patterned after this French model. Formerly the property of Ephraim Tufts - inherited from his father. Bayonet is probably British, added later. Sampler 1765 poor, faded, mended 20.5" x 8" Made by Mary Richardson, age 12, daughter of Moses Richardson, who was killed by British troops, April 19,1775 "I was born in Cambridge June the 10th, 1753 and made this sampler March 1765 in the 12 year of my Age. When Friends are gone and money spent Then learning is excellent." hung for many years in JRH in kids' bedroom but was moved c 2004 to prevent fading

1918.7.2 - Buckle
Shoe buckle with missing rhinestones, attached to red velvet ribbon. Original provenance reported that it was taken from shoe of fatally wounded British soldier, shot in yard of Wm Adams house when British were retreating. Found at Adams house at corner of Mystic and Mass Ave Artifact analyzed by Joel Bohy in 2019 and verified to not fit with the story.

1950.6.10 - Ball, Musket
"Musket ball fired by Lord Percy's man, 1775, white stone (3)" Actual material oxidized lead. Correct size for British musket (used by both sides on April 19) Smaller than 75 cal, which was standard British musket. Possibly fired by British officer's fusil or Colonial (e.g. French) musket.

1 of 2 buckles from a Royal Artillery cartridge pouch that had been taken on April 19, 1775 during the British retreat through West Cambridge, MA. In 1856, George Gray, a member of the First Congregational Church cut the buckles from the pouch strap and put them in a box to be buried.
